It is with a heavy heart that we have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel the BWB Gang Show 2020 in April.
The BWB Gang Show Committee have thought long and hard about this decision in the context of the developing coronavirus situation. It appears increasingly likely that there would be significant disruption to events over the coming weeks and a delay in making the decision to cancel the show would increase the amount of money that the show is committed to spending. This would have significantly impacted the Billericay, Wickford and Basildon Scouting and Guiding Districts financially, as well as put the long term future of BWB Gang Show at risk. The potential for even smaller audience & cast / crew needing to self-isolate during the show week adds to the financial risk for the districts.
We also have a duty of care to our gang, our volunteers and the family and friends who would be coming to see the show as well as attending rehearsals. The current predictions are that the situation will worsen over the coming weeks. And we can’t knowingly put any of you in that increased position of risk.
We would like to say a massive thank you for your commitment to GS2020. Both cast, crew, volunteers and parents. As well as take this opportunity to thank the production team and committee for everything they’ve done. 3 years of work have brought us to this point. You would have been amazing on stage, we know!
We fully intend to hold BWB Gang Show in the future, at the situation allows. We are discussing options with the Theatre although no dates have been agreed as yet. Please keep tuned for more information.
